About The Walnut Creek Historical Society

Founded in 1967 by members of the Walnut Creek Women’s Club, the Walnut Creek Historical Society (WCHS) works with the community and the City of Walnut Creek to “collect, preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the Walnut Creek area.”

Among its varied activities, WCHS operates and maintains the Shadelands Ranch Museum, supports local history programs for area schools, sponsors tours of downtown heritage sites, and maintains a rotating exhibit at the downtown Walnut Creek Library.
