The Walnut Creek Historical Society is proud to partner with the City of Walnut Creek in its work to collect, preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the Walnut Creek area. At the forefront of that effort is our work to maintain and present the Shadelands Ranch Museum, one of only three sites in Walnut Creek on the National Register of Historic Places.

The members of the Historical Society also work actively each year to provide a series of educational programs to ensure that our local third grade students receive their first lessons in local history. In addition, the members often take on special historic preservation projects such as the development of the Downtown Heritage Walk (2015) and the Oral History Program.

All work of the Historical Society is made possible thanks to the loyal and generous support of members and donors like you! See the list of our sponsors and donors.
